Marmalade
noun [mass noun] a preserve made from citrus fruit, especially bitter oranges.

Marmalade

Origin: late 15th century: from Portuguese marmelada 'quince jam', from marmelo 'quince', based on Greek melimēlon (from meli 'honey' + mēlon 'apple')
Marmalade on toast is most likely the most familiar use for the preserve, but it is also versatile across the whole menu, from toast to sauces, smothered on a duck, and in puddings, baked goods, and ice creams.

Marmalade can be bought all around the world, it is still considered a top choice for preserves on the British Breakfast table. Marmalade does not originate in Britain, despite claims that it does.

A Little History of Marmalade
Despite the belief that marmalade was 'invented' in Scotland by James Keiller and his wife, it was not—though due thanks must go to the Keiller who is generally credited with making the delicious breakfast preserve commercially available. The romantic notion of James Keiller discovering a cargo of bitter oranges being sold cheaply which his wife then turned into jam has long been outed considering the existence of recipes for similar 'jams' dating back to the 1500s.

About our Marmalade

Our Marmalades are made in small batches using original recipes and techniques. We use the best quality fresh Seville Oranges to make some truly fantastic marmalade.

We also make a Whole Orange Marmalade which is as the name suggests the whole orange minus the little sticky label for a truly unique orange flavour. This marmalade is not made from Seville Oranges as that makes it taste to bitter.
For a sharper tasting marmalade, we also make a Pink Grapefruit Marmalade using the same technique as for our Whole Orange marmalade which produces a zesty and tangy marmalade. A firm favourite since 2003 when it was first made.

Our Marmalades are priced per Jar and supplied in a 277g glass jar.

This marmalade is the only marmalade that is still seasonal as the Red / Blood oranges are only in season twice a year so it may sell out more quickly than other marmalades.
